Stem Cell

What is Stem Cell

Stem cell can take from any multi-cellular organism. Stem cell should be able to renew themselves through mitotic cell division and can differentiating into diverse range of specialized cell types. Stem cell have broad type in mammalian stem cell like embryonic stem cell that is isolated from inner cell mass of blastocysts, and adult stem cells from adult tissues. In developing embryo, stem cells and progenitor cells act as a repair system for the body, replenishing specialized cells and maintain normal turnover of regenerative organs, such as blood, skin, and internal organ cells.

Stem cell can produce from other tissue cell like skin, muscle and can be transformed into specialized cells of carious tissue through cell and tissue culture. Adult stem cells from variety of sources, including umbilical cord blood and bone marrow, are routinely use in medical therapies.
  • Stem cell generally have the properties such as:
  • Self-renewal
  • Potency, is capacity to differentiate into specialized cell types.
Pluripotent, embryonic stem cells originate as inner mass cells within a blastocyst. The stem cells can become any tissue in the body, excluding a placenta. Only the morula's cells are totipotent, able to become all tissues and a placenta.
